Leveling
Rested XP, Legacy and the Cozy Sleeping Bag on the real route: whom to play, and when your characters reach their targets.
RESULT1 character · 3 h a day
27 days, 78 h played and 3,564 grind kills. Getting back to the route after logging out at an inn: 1.1 h. Set up characters and settings in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
Each character on its own hours played. The dashed lines every 24 h mark each day of /played. The calendar day a character reaches its target is in the table.
CLASSES1–60 without rested · each race's Polestar route
Speeds come from the Forever tables. Effects of one kind do not stack, and speed talents are taken as soon as their row opens. Kill time is an estimate against a warrior, the class the pace was matched to, not a measurement in Forever. Days to 60 are for one character at 3 h a day, with rested.
ROUTEOrc 1–60 on the Polestar route · Warrior · without rested
One character walks the whole Polestar route without rested, at the pace from the settings. Grind is the kills needed to reach the guide's “Reach level” marks; an orange background marks guides with at least 300 such kills.
COZY SLEEPING BAGHorde chain from the Barrens · the bag binds on pickup
The bag works like an inn: the character logs out where it stands and skips the hearth and the trip back to the route. Well-Rested stacks give +1% XP each, up to 3, for 2 hours.
TIMEWhat the chain is made of
Legs from wow-travelcraft.com. Ghost Wolf, Travel Form or Aspect of the Cheetah shorten the parts on foot.
PAYBACKHours played with the bag from level 22 and without
Without the bag every session starts with a hearth to an inn and a flight back, about 2.5 min. In your plan that is 1.1 h, with the bag 0.2 h.
HOW IT WORKSRested XP, Legacy, the Cozy Sleeping Bag, takeaways and method
RESTED XP
- It grows by 5% of a level every 8 hours logged out in an inn, a capital or a Cozy Sleeping Bag. Anywhere else it grows 4 times slower in Classic.
- The cap is 150% of a level (30 bubbles), full after about 10 days. At level 25 that is 5,100 XP a day and a cap of 51,000 XP.
- It doubles only the XP from mobs. Quests and exploring give the same as always.
- The Camp Tent (the Leatherworking camp) gives rested like an inn for an hour, with its own Boosted Rest cooldown.
LEGACY
- A new character spends at most 16 points at the start. A point comes from the first character of each class to reach 25, 45 and 60, from a profession at 150, 225 and 300, and from dungeons, raids and PvP.
- Well Rested at 5/5 means 20% faster rested and a 20% higher rested cap. The game data holds a third 20% effect with no description.
- Talented does not speed up XP: it gives talent points earlier, so the character kills faster.
COZY SLEEPING BAG
- Unroll Bag lays the bag out for 20 minutes, with a 1 hour cooldown.
- A minute inside gives a Well-Rested stack: +1% XP, up to 3 stacks, for 2 hours, kept through death.
- The bag counts as an inn: logging out in it builds rested, so an alt does not have to go back to town.
- It binds on pickup, so every character runs the chain itself: ... and that note you found, Stepping Stones, Scramble, Wet Job, Eagle's Fist, This Must Be The Place. The Horde starts in the Barrens by Camp Taurajo, then Stonetalon, the dam in Loch Modan and Hillsbrad by Thoradin's Wall: about 55 min of travel with Horde flights, and 10,950 XP from the quests.
LEGACY RANKS

| Well Rested | faster rested gain and a higher rested cap | +4% | +8% | +12% | +16% | +20% |

WHAT IT MEANS
- The Legacy Point Route plan (4 characters to 35, 5 to 25) at 3 hours a day and a steady pace: rotation finishes it in 56 days and 166 h played, one by one in 66 days and 196 h.
- The biggest gain is grinding. The guides ask you to reach levels (“Reach level 16 (51%)”): one by one that takes 4,813 kills, in rotation 1,320, because rested doubles mob XP and a character often reaches the mark on quests alone.
- With Well Rested 5/5 and food the same plan takes 55 days and 163 hours played.
- Without the bag every session starts with getting back to the route after logging out at an inn: in rotation that is 5.5 h. The bag's chain costs about 55 min a character. For alts to 25 and 35 it does not pay back: bags from level 22 mean 170 h played, from 14 167 h, without them 166 h. A character played to 60 earns it back and more: 84 h instead of 88 h.
- The plan's professions (a tailor, an alchemist with an enchanter, a blacksmith, a leatherworker and gatherers) to 225: 3 h of crafting and 2 h of gathering, 328 g at vendors and 10 Legacy points for ranks. Gathering along the route cannot keep up with crafting, so most materials have to be bought.
- Classes to 60 without rested: fastest is Hunter (Tauren) in 79 h, slowest Warrior (Orc) in 98 h. Class speed (forms, aspects, Pursuit of Justice, Skysight) saves at most 1.8 h of travel; the rest of the gap is fighting time.
- At level 25 a day at an inn is 5,100 XP of rested, less than 1/6 of the level (34,000 XP). One character uses it up in a short daily session, hence the gain from many alts.
METHOD
- Route: Polestar's Horde guides, each race's start and the shared road to 60, about 1,227 steps a race. Lines for other races and classes are left out. The pace in the settings is a warrior's pace.
- Step XP: quests carry their exact XP from forever-db, with the penalty for a quest more than 5 levels below. Mobs from quest objectives use the Classic formula (5 × level + 45 for a mob of your level, elites ×2). For “loot it from a mob” objectives the model counts as many kills as the known drop chance needs.
- The guide's “Reach level” marks: the character grinds the named mobs until it reaches the level. When it is already above, the step costs nothing.
- Step time: a straight run between guide points ×1.3 at 7 yards a second (60% faster from the Mount level), flights at 25 yards a second plus 30 s, hearth 25 s, death 90 s, boat 5 min. Plus actions, pickups and kills from the settings.
- Class: speed on foot and mounted from the Forever tables (Travel Form, Cat Form with Feral Swiftness, Ghost Wolf, Aspect of the Cheetah with Pathfinding, Pursuit of Justice, Sprint, Skyborne Skysight, Tauren Plainsrunning). Effects of one kind do not stack. A class's fighting time is an estimate against a warrior.
- Professions: herbs and ore are forever-db spawn points within 60 yards of the foot route, skins come from killed mobs. Crafting follows the paths in the Forever tables: a sure point up to the yellow rank, then a falling chance until grey. Trainers teach further from levels 10, 20 and 35.
- Rested: builds offline and doubles mob XP in steps and in grinding. Food adds 5% to mob XP. The Cozy Sleeping Bag adds 3% to all XP once its chain is done: the character leaves the route at the set level, with travel timed leg by leg on Travelcraft (flights to the Crossroads, Taurajo, Sun Rock, Orgrimmar, the zeppelin, Undercity–Tarren Mill, the rest on foot at the class's speed).
- Calendar: a day is your hours of play in 15-minute blocks, the rest offline. Rotation picks the character with the most rested for each block. Every session of a character without a bag (except its first) starts with 2.5 min: a hearth to an inn at the end of the last one and a flight back to the route.
- Calibration: the “With professions” pace walks the route from 1 to 20 in 8.4 h, as long as a beta run with professions (8 h 22 min). Speedrun takes 6.6 h on this route; the 5 h 07 min run took a shorter road with shortcuts.
What the model does not know: terrain (distances are straight lines), dungeons and group play, mobs killed on the way besides objectives, cloth from mobs, racial abilities besides speed (such as Cannibalize), and the XP penalty on quests left behind when rested gets ahead of the route.
